ROYAL HERITAGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL: CELEBRATING CHILDREN ON THE CHILDREN’S DAY
Our children here at Royal Heritage International School are our pride, and we think no less about your own children too. Our primary business is to help children and adolescents navigate their individual pathways to a glorious future. Our motto is, ‘Passion for Excellence’, and we strive to have this signature on whatever bears our name.
We have no intention to judge the adults of this generation in individual countries, whether or not we have failed to deliver on the expectations of posterity or have intentionally abused the innocence of those that hold the baton for tomorrow. We in RHIS are however committed to training the children to take responsibility for the destiny they wish to see. The task could be overwhelming, especially in third world nations where the vast majority of children, adolescents, young adults and even the aged have never experienced a country that works!
It is a commitment to this noble course of raising children who can hold their destinies in their hands that made Prince Aderemi Adekile to run the first two years of RHIS, a full boarding co-educational secondary school, absolutely free for over sixty students.
Let me therefore announce to all Nigerian children on behalf of the proprietor, management and staff of RHIS that we love, cherish and genuinely celebrate you today, 27th of May, 2021 and beyond. For those committed to our hands in RHIS (including our international students), we pledge to model and inculcate the virtues of godliness, hard work and dignity of labour, diligence, integrity, creativity, perseverance, discipline and a keen sense of purpose and responsibility that will birth the glorious destiny the womb of Nigeria is craving to deliver.
FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT CHILDREN’S DAY
· Children Day is aimed at reiterating the message of protection, welfare and a global commitment to the universal rights of children.
· Children Day started as Rose Day in 1857, by Pastor (Dr) Leonard Charles.
· The United Nations adopted the idea and established Children Day in 1954.
· Children Day is not celebrated on the same date all over the world, rather, countries adopt dates based on their individual peculiarities.
· It is not established to be a public holiday but an observance day (a day to be observed).
· United Nations provides a general theme as well as the theme for each year. Individual countries may also provide theme for each year in their own country.
· The general theme for the Children’s Day is: Investing in our future means investing in our children.
Here in RHIS, one of the highlights of today’s programme is a talk show where students will be speaking on the title – THE DESTINY OF MY NATION. It will be a time to paint the future of Nigeria as conceived by them and the pathway to that glorious destination.
Thank you for taking time to go through this piece.
